Wanda Louise Findley

Ridgeway, MO: Wanda Louis Findley, 91, of Ridgeway, Mo. passed away Saturday, July 25, 2026, at a Bethany, Mo. hospital.

She was born on March 22,1935, in Harrison County, Mo. the daughter of John William “Bill” and Gladys (Allen) Geyer.

On November 8, 1952, she married Vernon “Fat” Findley in Martinsville, Mo. He preceded her in death on January 28, 2005.

Wanda attended Martinsville school and was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and also had jobs at Places and South Harrison Elementary School in the kitchen.

Grandma Fat had an unmatched way of making everyone feel loved and cared for. Her handwritten cards, saved newspaper clippings, birthday phone calls, trips to the pond to see our latest catch, and countless prayers showed her intentional love. She made sure to show up to every event and get her grandma hug in at the end. She was a true prayer warrior, and we never had to wonder if we were covered in prayer. She loved teaching us her recipes, sewing, working hard, taking her daily walks, and serving others whenever she saw a need. She cherished her family deeply. She was especially proud of her grandchildren even if she’d say she knew she shouldn’t be prideful, often saying, “I’m Grandma. I can brag if I want.” She treasured every person who walked through her door, and she had a way of making friends, spouses, and great-grandchildren feel like they had always belonged.

There are a million memories to be thankful for—the porch swings, Sunday afternoons, heart-to-heart phone calls, and all the little moments that made life with Grandma Fat so special. She loved her farm and on multiple occasions would say, “I’ve gotten to see a lot of places in my life, and none of them are any prettier than where God put me.” She loved fiercely, served joyfully, and always focused on how blessed she was. She was more than a grandma; she was a best friend, a safe place, and a constant source of love and encouragement. I think we can all picture her now, joyfully polishing the Streets of Gold so well they’ll need their grippy socks. How blessed are we to know that the woman who spent her life loving, serving, and praying for everyone so well is now finally home.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; son, John Findley; sister Roberta Edwards and brother, Billie Geyer.

Wanda is survived by her children, Becky (Scott) Adkins and Jodi (Sherman) Stephens, grandchildren, Bridget (Rob) Maloney, Will Findley, Heather (Nick) Fitzgerald, Joshua (Erica) Adkins, Bailey Adkins, Kelsey Jo (Zach) Freeman, Coy (Madison) Stephens, great grandchildren, Ross and Emmaleigh Maloney, Spencer and Rory Fitzgerald, Tyson and Rylan Adkins, Findley and Maelyn Freeman; and two sisters, Mary Allen and Carolyn Funches.

Funeral services were Wednesday, July 29 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, Mo. Burial followed in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Bethany, Mo. Memorials may be made to Mt.
