Lee’s Summit, MO: Carolyn “Sue” Elliott, 81, passed away July 22, 2026 at home with her family by her side. She was born in Bethany, Missouri on January 16,1945 to Junior and LaVona (Goin) Stevens. They precede her in death.
Sue graduated from Martinsville High School in 1962 and worked as an administrative assistant at Honeywell FM&T for 33 years until retiring.
She enjoyed being an active member of the Red Hat Society since the late 1990’s where she had a sistership with other women who embraced adventures and fellowship. In her 20’s she was a member of the Sweet Adelines International barbershop and a cappella group for women. She loved to sing and even got to perform in London. She also loved to spend time bowling where she was part of a team that won several tournaments and brought home the trophy hardware. Sue grew up on a farm and believed in the hard work ethic. Even though she moved to the city, she enjoyed riding on a mower every chance she got up until the age of 80 when she tried to sneak a ride past her concerned husband and daughter.
Sue’s biggest legacy was her family. She loved everyone endlessly, especially her grandbabies. Everything was acceptable at grandma’s house and there was not a limit when it came to candy. She always took care of everyone and everything before even thinking about what she might need. That kind of love was not unnoticed, and she will always be remembered for her deep concern for others.
Survivors include, husband, Dan, of the home; daughter, Heather (Nathan) Thoreson, Lee’s Summit, Missouri; 3 grandchildren, Addy, Paisley, and Ryker; brother, Gary (Trish) Stevens, New Hampton, Missouri; sister in law, Kathy (Stan) Sims, Kansas City, Missouri; along with several nieces & nephews.
