Delegates push regional issues: Harrison County sent representatives to the Great Northwest Day last Wednesday in Jefferson City. Attending, from left to right, were Presiding Commissioner Jack Hodge; Jackie Spainhower, county engagement specialist for University Extension; Rick Smith, north district county commissioner; Leslie Groom of the Bethany City Hall staff, and Jim Holcomb, south district commissioner. City Administrator Jake Taylor also attended the event. The delegation created a display board highlighting some of the businesses and attractions of Harrison County. Several state legislators visited Harrison County’s booth on Wednesday.

Regional leaders from Northwest Missouri descended upon Jefferson City last week to present their issues to legislators from what some believe is a forgotten part of the state.
Several counties set up exhibits at the Capitol Plaza Hotel to spotlight the attractions of their communities. Leslie Groom of the Bethany City Hall staff collected photographs and literature to display in Harrison County’s booth. Jackie Spainhower of University Extension also represented the county. Visitors included State Representative J. Eggleston and state Senator Dan Hegeman.
