Smoke billows into the sky during a major grass fire last Wednesday evening near Martinsville. The fire burned about 1,500 acres of pasture before it could be stopped. The fire broke out near the Grand Trace State Forest. The fire burned several hay bales but did not damage any structures. Firemen from New Hampton, Ridgeway, North Harrison, Bethany, Albany and Lamoni fought the fire.
