The Bethany City Council’s approval of new water and sewer rates under the 2019 budget will have a mixed blessing for utility customers.
The new rate schedule will increase charges for water usage by 30% starting on Jan. 1, but the sewer rate will decline by 30%. City Administrator Jonne Slemons said most utility customers will experience only a “slight increase” and some will have no increase at all depending upon their monthly water consumption.
