Washington Center, MO: Jimmie Dale Smith passed away at his farm home on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the age of 81 after a long battle with cancer. He was born in the same farmhouse in the Washington Center area and lived there his whole life.
Jimmie was born to Ivan and Mildred (Jones) Smith on December 7, 1944. His two brothers and their spouses, Kenneth & Mona and Norman & Judy, along with a plethora of cousins, are among those who mourn his loss.
Jimmie graduated from Martinsville High School in 1963, soon after he married his high school sweetheart, Fauneal Van Houtan, on June 6, 1965. They were married for 61 years. This union was blessed with four children, Gayla, Shannon, Camelle, and Shane.
Jimmie is survived by his wife, Fauneal; children, Gayla (Steve) Hamilton, Shannon (Sara) Smith, Camelle (Greg) Ward, and Shane (Tracy) Smith; grandchildren, Cora (Tate) Caldwell, Connor Smith, Tiara (Jordan) Zech, Austin Ward, Dylan (Maycee) Ward, Quinlynn Smith, Travis Smith, Maranda Donaldson, Adrianne Jones, and Kaylee Hamilton; great grandchildren, Dallas Caldwell, Trey & Maylie Donaldson, Eli Siddens & sister Paisley. They are left to carry on his legacy of dedication and love. He was a wonderful father and grandfather who was extremely proud of every single one of them.
Jimmie and Fauneal raised their family on the dairy farm that Jimmie operated for over 40 years. He raised cattle, in one capacity or another, his entire adult life. His other interests include the KC Chiefs, quail and pheasant hunting, and WWII history.
Jimmie Dale’s presence in the lives of his family and friends will be sorely missed. While they will deeply mourn his loss, they rejoice knowing that he is no longer suffering; he is at peace.
