Hatfield, MO: Harold James McChesney, age 92, of Hatfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2026.
He was born on October 20, 1934, in Hatfield, Missouri to James and Pearl McChesney. A lifelong farmer, Harold dedicated his life to working the soil and tending to the land. He loved tending and caring for the livestock. He took great pride in nurturing his farm. Enjoying and supporting his family was very important to him. His hands knew the weight of a wrench, the lull of the tractor tilling the earth, and the satisfaction of completing the final swath of harvest. The last fence has been mended, the sun has set, and his boots now rest inside the basement door – a reminder of seasons past. His love for the land lives on through the generations that follow.
On December 6, 1953, he married the love of his life, Deloris Geyer. Together, they built a farmstead and family rooted in their community. Establishing their family just a mile from his childhood home.
Harold is survived by his wife of 72 years, Deloris; his children, Rick McChesney (Debbie), Cindy Eivins, and Cheryl Osmon (Randy); his grandchildren, David, Melissa, Derek, Jeff (Cassie), James (Sherece), Tammie (Dan), Monica (Jeremy), Neil (Darcie), Jeremy (Rachel), Adam (Trena), Brady (Ashley), and Cody (Heather); 27 great grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa; his father, James; his mother, Pearl; his brothers, Buster, Elmer, and Merlin; his sister, Ruth; and his son-in-law, Pete Eivins.
