Eagleville, MO: Libby Nible, 90, Eagleville, MO passed away Sunday, October 11, 2026 at a Bethany, MO hospital.
Elizabeth Ann Lippincott was born January 8th, 1936, to Virgil and May (Schell) Lippincott, in Bethany, Missouri. As a young girl there wasn’t a tree in Eagleville, she had not climbed. She enjoyed any sport or outdoor activity, and one of her prized possessions was the ball glove gifted to her by her brother Paul.
She served along with her family as caretakers of the Eagleville switchboard, you could see her skipping about town, untangling lines, making collections, charming customers and often sitting in the chair making connections.
On September 15, 1952, she married Robert Gene Cook, and to that union came Peggy Jo, Billy Gene, Penny Ann, Rodney Paul, Jay Cee and Harold Scott. They set up home in the country in the Blythedale/Eagleville area. Libby, a true “city girl” that had never been out of town, and when Rob took her to the country she asked him, “If the Wild Indians were still there”.
Many nights were spent playing cards, playing ball and games. Later a weekly treat of Sunday TV with Apples and popcorn would come along, each looked forward to fall when Apple Cider from the Delong Orchard would be enjoyed.
A community was built between the surrounding homes with friends that quickly became family. Farming and Homesteading was to be taken care of before the fellowship could be enjoyed playing cards and the endless laughs from it with Jack and Bonnie Bowles, Bob and Ima Savely, Kent and Donna Sturdevant, Jeep and Donna Bennett, Gabby and Rogene Stanton, along with others.
Once Jay started school, she took a job at North Harrison School where once again she made life-long friends that became family. She and the kids were caretakers of the Blythedale Cemetery for many years.
She joined Gumdrop Books when they were based out of the small starter house in the early 70’s as their first employee. She believed in the dream her cousin Gail and husband Harold (Moe) Fitzgerald had and was instrumental in the success that was shared. She continued in some compacity until just a few years ago. In this role she was not only an employee, but the glue. She displayed an amazing work ethic every day and served as an example for any young woman in business.
On December 24th, 1977, she married Floyd Nible, they set up home in Bethany, and this doubled her family. His children became hers and hers became his. They lived to take trips to Bennett Springs… before each trip was finished, they were already planning the next. She became a trout chef and fed her family often with the harvest, especially on Easter Sunday.
In the following years her family grew and as of today she has 64 grandchildren.
She was the biggest fan of all they did, no matter the activity they were “FANtastic” no matter the age she continued to sit front row and cheer the loudest, because her family was the BEST.
That relationship did not end with those she shared DNA with, she was Mom, Sister, Grandmother to countless others and it took less than 3 seconds to fall into her good graces of unconditional love.
Her legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren, all who knew her and by her fellow Chief’s kingdom of fans.
On April 25th, 2026, she was baptized at the Eagleville Christian Church by her dear friend Bruce Williams, the day was made even sweeter because it was shared with the baptism of her son Jay and great nephew Jensen Davis. She later gained a special kind of peace when her son Bill and great-grandson Wyatt were baptized.
