Tennis courts to be replaced

Bethany, MO: The tennis courts at the Bethany Memorial Park have been unplayable for several years because of the deterioration in the surface of the court and drainage problems. The Bethany Parks and Recreation Department hopes to change that after including replacement of the tennis courts in a bid package it recently sent to potential contractors. Aaron Baker, parks director, said half of the court will be used for pickleball, a sport that has been growing in popularity across the country. The tennis courts were built several years ago between the swimming pool and Babe Adams Field. The surface had started to deteriorate soon after they were installed. People still try to play tennis there but have to dodge the puddles on the court.–Republican-Clipper photo
