Fall City, NE: Wesley Leroy Barnett, 82, of Falls City, Nebraska, passed away Monday November 6, 2023 at his home. He was born August 26, 1941 in Bethany, Missouri son of Verna & Wesley Barnett.
He graduated from Benton High School. Wesley worked for the United States Postal Service as a Mail Handler, retiring after 25 years of service. Wesley proudly and faithfully served his country with the United States Army from 1959 until his retirement in 1993. On January 18, 1963, he married the mother of his 3 daughters, Mary Chris Danbach, who preceded him in death after 31 years of marriage. On May 7, 1994, he married Gayle Holtman. Wesley enjoyed spending his time outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, camping and boating and he loved horses. He was a proud member of the NRA, V.F.W., and Elks Lodge.
Wesley was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Chris Barnett, sisters, Patty Ann Barnett and Mary Jane Burton, grandson, Seth Hernandez and step-daughters, Pennie Scates and Shawna Genuick.
He is survived by wife, Gayle Barnett, of the home, daughters, Vicki Barnett (Michael Wilcox) of Oceanview, Hawaii, Toni (Larry) Lovelady of Hiawatha, KS, and Angie (Rudy) Hernandez of St. Joseph, sister, Faye Brown of St Joseph,10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm Monday, November 13, 2023 at Rupp Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Oswald, officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm on Sunday at Rupp Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the Missouri Veterans Home, Cameron, MO.
