Vern Lee Miles was born in Harrison County to Ernest and Jeanie Miles on January 5, 1925, the younger brother of Agnes McCollum. He passed away in Firth, Neb. on August 19, 2021.
After graduation from Bethany High School, he served his country as a B-17 ball turret gunner over Germany during the end of WWII.
His Air Force career took him to Colorado, Kansas, Okinawa, Louisiana, Michigan, France, Nebraska, and South Korea.
After retiring from the Air Force, Vern worked as a service representative for Cushman Motors and later for E.J. Smith & Sons.
Vern is survived by his wife Rita, three daughters, seven grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews in the Bethany area.
