BETHANY, MO: Melvin F. Sorenson, 80, of Bethany, MO (formerly of Cainsville, MO) passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Northcare Hospice House, North Kansas City, MO.
He was born March 1, 1936 in Cainsville, MO the son of Lewis and Isabell (Maroney) Sorenson. They preceded him in death.
On February 20, 1955 he married Reva Elmore in Cainsville, MO. She survives of the home.
Melvin worked as a farmer and building and grounds superintendent for South Harrison High School. He was a member of the Cainsville Christian Church and Akron Cemetery Board.
In addition to his parents, Melvin is preceded in death by brothers, Earl and Alvin Sorenson and sister, Phyllis Sorenson.
Survivors in addition to his wife, Reva include 3 sons, Randy Sorenson, Bethany, MO, Ronald (Brenda) Sorenson, Clearmont, MO, Russell (Ronda) Sorenson, Princeton, MO; sisters-in-law, Colleen Sorenson, Indianola, IA, Merle Sorenson, Bethany, MO; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Raymond and Betty Elmore, Des Moines, IA; 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one on the way.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 28 at Cainsville Christian Church, Cainsville, MO. Burial will follow in Glaze Cemetery, Cainsville, MO. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO.
