Luetta Florence (Gantz) Vogel, 94, Pattonsburg, MO passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at her home.

    She was born April 30, 1925 at Coffey, MO to Paul and Delpha (Foster) Gantz.  She attended Netherton rural school and attended Coffey High School.  After graduation Luetta taught school at Netherton as well. 

    Luetta married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Dean Vogel, on March 14, 1947 in Bethany, MO.  To this union two children were born – Ronetta Sue and Ricky Ray.

Luetta was a horsewoman her entire life, and as a young woman founded in 1956 the Coffey Saddle Club, with her cousin Wayne Howard, to give 13 local teenagers a place to ride and learn more about horsemanship.  She remained the Drill Mistress the entire time the saddle club was active, including leading the drill team in performances during the Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeo in 1966 in Cheyenne, WY.

    Luetta and good friend, Peggy Sperry, owned and operated V&S Flowers in Pattonsburg, MO for several years in the 1960s.

    Ronald and Luetta farmed together many years and later enjoyed their trucking business traveling all over the Midwest.

    Later in life Luetta worked for Wal-Mart in Bethany, helping to set up the original store.  She worked in the card department, the snack bar and as a cashier.

    Luetta enjoyed watching basketball games (chewing out the referees and sports casters), playing cards, doing any kind of handwork, weaving rugs, and adult coloring books.

    Luetta is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Delpha Gantz; her 3 month old baby brother, J C Gantz; her husband, Ronald Vogel, and her nephew, Ronald Gene Vogel.

    She is survived by her children, Ronetta Burton, Ricky Vogel and David Mabe; three grandchildren, Brandy (Cody Hobbs), Caitlin (Casey Schmitz), ad Kendra (Seth Alkire); and four great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by two nephews Randy (Robin) Vogel and Roger (Yilma) Vogel; and many other relatives and close friends.     Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 25 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in Coffey Cemetery, Coffey, MO. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home where friends may call after 8:00 a.m. Saturday.
