Julia’s pride and Joy was her family. She was a devoted farm wife and mother raising her children and taking care of “Jack”. She loved gardening and working outside. She accomplished so much in her 95 years of life. She was a member of the Civil Bend Methodist Church and raised her family in a Christian home filled with love. She was a 4-H leader for many years and active in the community and worked many Elections. Julia spent many years enjoying the Pattonsburg Senior Center and the friendships made there. She loved fishing and telling her stories.

Julia would take the train from Pattonsburg to Mcfall to visit her grandfather Swope when she was very young. At an early age she took over her brother’s paper route after he passed delivering newspapers by bicycle. She washed milk bottles for a dairy, worked in a movie theater as several of her sisters, she was in the top of her class in school, and she was an intelligent woman. After marrying Jack, farming became her life; she raised chickens, helping with everything from driving the tractor to helping the children with their 4H projects. Julia always had an open door for family; many extended family members would spend time visiting the farm even for extended stays. Julia entertained and made everyone feel welcome. Julia enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family for the Holidays or even just a Sunday breakfast or lunch.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 7 at Roberson Funeral Home, Pattonsburg, MO. Burial will follow in Civil Bend Christian Cemetery, Pattonsburg, MO.
