jody-westJody Dyan (Meek) West, 36, of Bethany, Missouri peacefully passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born April 21, 1980 in Des Moines, Iowa, the second of four daughters to Ken and Joann (Price) Meek.

On March 25, 2006 she married Justin West in Bethany, Missouri.  She was the loving mother of Kennedi and Brooklyn Virtue and Jackson West.

Jody graduated from Ridgeway High School in Ridgeway, Missouri in 1998.  During her high school years she excelled on the softball field and was selected as All HDC Conference and All District softball for pitching every high school year.  She was a pitcher for several traveling softball teams.  Her team won second in the ASA Under 16 Missouri State softball tournament in 1996.  She was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated as salutatorian of her graduating class.  She made many lasting high school friends who she has kept in contact with over the years.

Her college years were spent at North Central Missouri College where she obtained an Associate of Arts degree.  In 2010, she earned her Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from Graceland University.  During this time, Jody worked at Country Kitchen in Bethany making many lasting friendships with co-workers and customers.  In the fall of 2010, she accepted a position at South Harrison Elementary School as a fourth grade teacher.  All of her students held a special place in her heart as well as her co-worker friends.

She enjoyed vacations, special trips include a vacation with Justin to Mexico, a vacation with friends to Costa Rica, and a Meek family trip to Branson.  Memorable family vacations were to Colorado, Nashville, and Minnesota and a trip with her family and mom this past August to the Grand Canyon.

She especially enjoyed moments at home with her kids, husband, family and friends.  She loved watching Kennedi and Brooklyn perform in the South Harrison band and play softball.  She helped coach their high school team in 2015.  She liked gardening with Jackson and watching him play sports.  She was a special aunt to her nieces and nephews and they enjoyed many memories with her.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Bethany, MO, Chapter CQ PEO of Ridgeway, and MSTA.

Jody was preceded in death by her father, Ken Meek; and grandparents, Bill and Deloris Meek and Clydene Price.

Survivors in addition to her husband, Justin, include daughters, Kennedi and Brooklyn Virtue and son, Jackson West, all of the home; mother, Joann Meek, Ridgeway, MO; sisters, Kelly (Rob) Claycomb, Katy (Mike) Burkhead, Jandy (Matt) Whitaker, all of Ridgeway, MO; grandfather, Gene Price, St. Joseph, MO; mother-in-law, Vera Bolar, Bethany, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 29 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in Lilly Cemetery, Ridgeway, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
