Gladys Pauline (Shellhorn) Schmitt, 83, Bethany, passed away January 5, 2016 at Crestview Nursing Home in Bethany, Missouri.

Gladys was born the 9th of 9 children to Jesse and Maggie (Hicks) Shellhorn in Montevallo, MO.

In 1950, she married Calvin Beydler and to this union three sons and one daughter were born: Paul, Pamela, Perry and Patrick. On May 30, 1982, she married Emmett Bryce Schmitt.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett in 1986, her parents, 4 sisters, 4 brothers and two sons, Paul and Perry.

Gladys enjoyed doting on her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her other hobbies included sewing, knitting, crafting, gardening, baking, shopping, going to church and spending time with her sorority sisters. Her many places employment included Bethany Elementary, Bethany High School, Bethany Hospital and Places Warehouse. She was a very creative and artistic person and put her talents to good use while working at and owning Golden Petals Flower Shop in the 1980’s.

Survivors include two children, Pam (Dr. Gary) Anderson, Bethany, MO and Patrick Beydler, Maryville, MO; daughter-in-law, Susan (Beydler) Habben, Bethany, MO; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Beydler, Grant City, MO; brother-in-law, Lewis Wolf, Kansas City, MO; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 15 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in Miriam Cemetery, Bethany, MO. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, Bethany in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O.
