Franklin D. “Frank” Cain, 1934-2024

Gilman City, MO: Franklin Delano Cain, 89, of Gilman City, MO passed into the arms of his heavenly father on March 26, 2024, at his daughter’s home in Gilman City, MO.

     Frank was born on November 21, 1934, in Cainsville, MO to Claude Wiley and Bernice May (Hart) Cain.

     On July 28, 1957, he married Thelma Coleen Bowen. To this union, four daughters and one son were born. Frank and Coleen later divorced.

     He lived most of his life in rural Pleasant Valley near Cainsville, MO and later moved to Eagleville, MO where he lived for 16 years. He then spent his final five years at his daughter, Kimberly’s home in Gilman City, MO.

     He spent the early years of his life working for farmers around the Cainsville and Princeton area. In 1974 he went to work for Kent Feeds hauling feed to farmers, then in 1976 he went to work for Central Paving Construction in Iowa where he drove a semi and ran heavy equipment. In 1979 his son Rocky went to work with his dad doing construction and in 1984 his daughter Sandra also came to work with them. He worked there until 1990 then he transferred to Koss Construction in Kansas and then later he worked for Ideker Inc. until he retired in 2002.

     He enjoyed coyote hunting with his favorite dogs Speed, Spud, Crystal, Dixie, and Red Head. Frank spent every weekend and any time he could to run the dogs. He would call the kids and say, “let’s go, the dogs are ready to go”. Frank was also a deer hunter in his early years. He had a small farm where he raised cows, goats, peacocks, and chickens. He also raised Toy Fox Terriers and his favorite terrier was Cricket.

     He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren whenever he was not working. He would take them to auctions with him and he taught them how to bid. He always got what he bid on. Later in life he enjoyed watching WWE wrestling on tv and could tell every wrestler’s name. Westerns were also one of his favorite shows.

     On November 22, 2023, he accepted Christ as his Savior and was ready to meet Him.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; three sisters, and one great granddaughter, Karli Jo Holcomb.

     Frank is survived by four daughters, Rhonda (Jerry) Morgan, Bethany, MO, Brenda (Rex) McLain, Cainsville, MO, Sandra (Bill) Marsh, Cainsville, MO, Kimberly (Jeff) Hanes, Gilman City, MO; his only son, Rocky Delano Cain, Eagleville, MO; he is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Kelly Cowell, April Holcomb Morgan, Bryan Bender, Tommy Bender, Jason Andrew, Alisha Marsh, Steven Wiley Cain, Gary Lynn Marsh, Samantha Barth, Randy Barth Jr., Remington Barth, Maverick Barth; several great grandchildren; sister, Shirley Blakley, Weston, MO, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.      Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 29 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in Cain Cemetery, Cainsville, MO. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
