Ridgeway, MO: Elizabeth Ann (McCollum) Simpson, 74, Ridgeway, MO, passed away Friday, January 20, 2017 at the Northwest Medical Center, Albany, MO.

Elizabeth was born November 20, 1942 near Bethany, MO. in Harrison County.  The first daughter, and 2nd child of D.L., Jr and Agnes E. (Miles) McCollum.

She and her brother, Mike first attended Lorraine School North of Bethany. She also attended Tull School, Globe, Bethany Elementary, later transferring to Ridgeway, and graduating with the class of 1960.

Following graduation, Elizabeth was a live-in nanny with Andrew and Rosy Peterson in Kansas City, MO, a family with 4 daughters.  The oldest daughter had special needs. Elizabeth was later employed as an insurance adjuster with BMA in Kansas City, MO and a clerk at Macy’s.

She was united in marriage January 20, 1962 to Gary Dale Simpson, son of Garland and Helen (Edwards) Simpson. Three children were born to this union: Pamela Jean, Russell Lynn, and Randall Dale.

Following their early married years in Kansas City, MO, they returned to the farm near Ridgeway, MO. Elizabeth worked at various business in the Bethany, and Maryville areas.

As a young girl Elizabeth was baptized as a member of Morris Chapel Church, near Bethany.   After returning to the farm, she became a member of Kirkley Chapel Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Jeanie Marie Cox and in-laws Garland and Helen (Edwards) Simpson.

Survivors in addition to her spouse, Gary of the home are daughter, Pam (Garrett) Cox, Coffey, MO; sons, Rus Simpson, Cainsville, MO and Randy (Ashley) Simpson, Ridgeway, MO; sisters, Dixie (Roger) Weller, Bethany, MO and Peggy Hamilton, Ridgeway, MO; brother, Larry (Shirley) McCollum, Silver Lake, Kansas and sister-in-law, Kathy (Danny) Carter, Gilman City, MO, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 24 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Ridgeway, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.robersonfuneralhome.com.
