Bethany, MO: Edgar L. Osmon was born on November 13, 1934, in Bethany, Mo., to Charles L. Osmon, Jr., and Mary M. (Judd) Osmon, Bondurant. He grew up in Harrison County and went to Bethany High School, graduating in 1952. Edgar was united in marriage on November 13, 1954, to Rose Mary Smith in Martinsville, Mo., and to this union three daughters were born, Teresa Curran (L D), Waynesville, Mo., Patricia Firle (Terence), Arnold, Mo., and Rebecca Gann, Marshfield, Mo. Edgar and Rose enjoyed 69 years of marriage.

Edgar served in the United States Army for 22 years attaining the rank of Command Sergeant Major. His service included two tours of Vietnam in 1967 and 1971, but most of his service was spent at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. Upon his retirement in 1979, he continued to work as a small engine repairman both for Civil Service and private contractors on Ft. Leonard Wood.

Edgar was always busy working in his shop building trailers, equipment, generators and many other things. He put in a big garden every year and enjoyed the outdoors, but his true love was fishing. He spent many hours in his boat below Bagnall Dam fishing for catfish and spoonbill during season. He also loved to camp and took his wife and daughters camping and fishing almost every weekend during the summer when they were growing up. His favorite fishing partner was his daughter Becky, which he took with him from an early age. He had many good fishing partners over the years including his son-in-law, Terry. You had to be a serious fisherman to hang with Edgar, because he would most likely fish all night. He also loved deer and turkey hunting and continued to hunt well into his 80’s.

In addition to his wife and daughters Edgar leaves to mourn him six grandchildren, Rachel Stefaniw (Mike), Tara Kaminski, Alexis Curran, Trent Curran, Clint Gann (Blair) and Kyle Gann (Kaitlynn) and eight great grandchildren, his brother Bill Osmon, Bethany, Mo., and many nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Garvin Osmon, sisters, Neva Feurt, Grace Osmon, Ruth Osmon and Ina Osmon, nephew Bobby Osmon, and Kevin Kaminski, grandson-in-law.

Edgar was always a hardworking man who enjoyed his family and friends. He will be missed.

Visitation was April 5, 2024, in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert.
