Charles David Johnson (Dee) went to be with the Lord on Sunday June 14, 2020. Charles was born on April 15, 1949 to Lawrence and Evelyn (Long) Johnson in Gilman City, Missouri. Growing up Charles enjoyed helping on the farm, hunting, fishing and searching for arrowheads. Charles had a love of gardening, baseball and the Kansas City Royals which he passed on to his children. Charles attended Gilman City High School and graduated in 1967. From 1967-1969 Charles served in the Army and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. On September 25, 1971 Charles and Jane (Reynolds) Johnson were united in marriage. Charles was a farmer and welder. He was employed by Premium Standard Farms/Smithfield Hog Production for 17 years before his retirement in 2011.
            Charles is survived by his wife Jane. His 5 children, Paul Johnson (Tanya) of Gilman City, MO, Julie Veach (Eric) of Milan, MO, Matthew Johnson (Keri) of Bethany, MO, April Johnson and fiancé Nick Broemer of Mexico, MO, and Rebecca Johnson of Newtown, MO. His 8 grandchildren, Joshua Johnson, Benjamin Johnson, Kendra Johnson, Courtney Johnson, Jaden Veach, Breana Veach, Ruger Johnson, and Jace Estrada and one great grandchild Levi Johnson. He’s also survived by 4 sisters Faye Mathews (Jerry) of St. Joseph, MO, Leona Hollcroft (Doug) of Nixa, MO, Rose Ann Wooderson of Warsaw, MO and Bonnie Thomas of Trenton, MO, 2 Brothers George Johnson (Lillie) of Trenton, MO and Lloyd Johnson (Josephine) of Gilman City.
            He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Evelyn (Long) Johnson, his brothers Dean McClaflin, and James Johnson and his sister Ruby Newton. Grandchild Bobby Johnson, Brother-in-law’s Clinton Newton, John Wooderson, and John Thomas. Nephews Robert Newton, Randy Newton, Brian Meek, and Brice Meek. And Great Niece Elizabeth Newton.
            Funeral services for Charles will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, June 18, 2020 at the Christian Church in Newtown. Burial will follow at the Christian Union Cemetery near Gilman City, Missouri. A visitation is scheduled for one-hour prior, starting at 12:00 Noon at the church. Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan is handling arrangements.
