Bethany, MO: Earthmoving equipment from Nail Excavating begins work on bolstering the Old Lake dam following erosion that occurred last year during a storm. Nail will be strengthening the back side of the dam which has impounded the city’s main water supply since the 1930s. The dam began leaking during the storm, and the city made emergency repairs to the structure. Along with strengthening the dam, Nail also will be installing a by-pass water line to the water treatment plant located just southeast of the Old Lake. The new line will enable the city to pump raw water from the New Lake directly to the treatment plant in any future emergencies. –Republican-Clipper photo
