Donald Gladhart of St. Joseph, governor of Rotary District 6040, presents a Paul Harris Fellow pin to Bethany Rotarian Dick Graner, recognizing his contributions to the Rotary International Foundation. Graner’s donations have totaled three times the amount required for being named to the Paul Harris award earning him a Harris-Plus 3 award. Harris founded Rotary International in Chicago in 1905. The foundation was established to finance global initiatives by Rotary International including the effort to eradicate the crippling disease polio. Gladhart said the last case of polio to occur in the United States was in 1979. On the global level, the eliminated now has been 99.9% eliminated with the only cases occurring in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
