Creating a swamp: Water pours down the slope south of the football field at South Harrison High School on Saturday evening. A downpour caused extensive flooding on roadways in Bethany over the weekend.

Wave after wave of thunderstorms hit Harrison County over Memorial weekend, causing localized flooding and cancelling picnics and the memorial service at Miriam Cemetery.
Streets were flooded at several locations in Bethany and Buck’s Branch and Big Creek were at bank full. About 2.65 inches of rain fell in Bethany on Friday and Saturday and another half an inch on Monday, according to KAAN radio.
