Emergency response: An NTA ambulance was waiting with other EMS vehicles at the Mendon school as they prepared to take on patients from the train wreck.

Bethany, MO: Federal transportation officials are investigating a deadly Amtrak crash last Monday, May 27, at a rural rail crossing near Mendon, Missouri.
The accident occurred when the train carrying some 275 passengers and 12 crew members struck a dump truck which was crossing the track. The train was on its way from Los Angeles to Chicago when several cars jumped the tracks.
