The North Harrison Music Departmentā€™s pie auction and pops concert held in early February raised $7,000 for the music program.

Most of the proceeds will be going to purchase musical instruments to outfit the growing band, according to Elizabeth Betts, music director.

ā€œOur numbers will be close to 50 next year in the seventh through the 12th grade band and we have a strong younger group as well,ā€ Mrs. Betts said.

Some of the funds will be used for transportation to send the high school band and choir to Branson. The groups will be performing for Branson Live and will be taking part in a clinic by area musicians.

North Harrison also will be taking the 5-8th graders to a music contest in Feb. 27 in Maryville. More than 60 entries will be attending.
