The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office has posted a $5,000 reward for information about Sunday afternoon’s grass fire near Martinsville that inured 3 New Hampton firefighters.

“We are concerned that someone may have set the fire,” said Jacob Denum, a fire investigator.

Denum pointed out that the fire occurred during a red flag warning period when high winds and dry conditions raised the level of fire danger. The fire originated along the highway in an area where several suspicious fires have occurred in the past.

A reward of up to $5,000 is available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for setting the fire.

Those with information are asked to call 1-800-39-ARSON or investigator Denum at 573-508-3114 or investigator Adam Crouch at 573-508-3121.
