Harrison County to celebrate 175th birthday in September

Historical Harrison County photo Boom times for downtown: Cars were parallel parked on the street while the Jefferson bus unloaded passengers at the Zimmerlee Cafe in an early photo of the east side of the Square. The Jefferson Highway once ran through downtown Bethany. There has been speculation that outlaws like Bonnie and Clyde may have later passed through Bethany on their crime spree in the 1930s.

Harrison County will come together for a three-day celebration of the 175th anniversary of the founding of the county with a parade, tours and displays of historical artifacts this fall.
