A fire caused major damage in the large inventory of black drainage tile at the Prinsco Company at 14th Street and Highway 136 on Thursday morning. Thick black smoke rising from the fire was visible for many miles away from Bethany. Several area fire departments were involved in bringing the fire under control. Bethany police said a forklift in the storage yard caught fire and exploded, spreading to the highly inflammable tile. The forklift driver escaped injury.
