Politics and ice-cream: The audience settles back to listen to presentations from Republican primary candidates during an ice-cream social at the Bethany park.

Bethany, MO: A large crowd gathered at Bethany Memorial Park on a perfect summer evening on Friday to listen to candidates in the Aug. 2 Republican primary introduce themselves and discuss campaign issues.
After the candidates served homemade ice cream, cookies and cake to the long line of voters in attendance, Rick Smith, Harrison County Republican Central Committee chairman, introduced the candidates and gave them about five minutes apiece to speak to the crowd. It was the largest audience for the candidate night in recent memory.
