Absentee voting begins for primary

Harrison County, MO: Absentee voting in the Aug. 2 primary election began last Tuesday at the Harrison County Clerk’s Office.
Voting booths have been set up in the lobby of the courthouse for absentee voting in a number of state, district and local elections.
County residents will be following a couple of countywide races and legislative races. July 6 is the last day to register to vote in the election.
Statewide, national attention will be on the Republican primary for the U.S. Senate following the retirement of Roy Blunt. Some 20 candidates have filed in the Republican primary. U.S. Representative Vicky Hartzler and former Governor Eric Greitens have been engaged in a bitter campaign while current Attorney General Eric Schmitt also is running. The winner will face the winner of the 11-way Democratic primary in the November general election. Also running are Jonathan Dine of Kansas City, Libertarian, and Paul Venable of Lincoln, Constitution.
David Gregory of St. Louis and Scott Fitzpatrick, currently the appointed state treasurer, are running for the Republican nomination as state auditor. Alan Green is unopposed as the Democratic candidate. John A. Hartwig Jr. of St. Louis is the Libertaran candidate.
