Josh Eckerson won another term as sheriff in Tuesday’s Republican primary, beating Randal Francis of Cainsville by nearly a 2-1 margin. The vote was 1,194-606.

In the North District commissioner race, Republican incumbent Rick Smith held off challenger Alan Hamilton by 342-309 votes. Mick Parkhurst trailed with 233 votes.

Smith will face Democrat Bobbie McCoy in the November general election. McCoy received 48 votes against no opposition.

Jim Holcomb, who was unopposed for commissioner in the South District, received 761 in the Republican primary.

Zach Wilson defeated Art Maxwell by a 911-850 margin in the Republican coroner’s margin. Wilson will succeed Jeremy Eivins as coroner
