Bethany, MO: Separate fires destroyed an unoccupied home on Woodruff Street Saturday afternoon and heavily damaged a home owned by Fire Chief Jacob Denum and his wife Paula on 12th Street early Sunday morning. Chief Denum was conducting a diving class on Table Rock Lake when the fire occurred. His wife Paula was home alone and was wakened by a smoke alarm. She was able to escape the home which was heavily involved in smoke. The fire on Woodruff broke out in an attached garage where a car was being repaired.
