Pete Eivins, 71, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Pete Roe Eivins was born July 14, 1953, in Bethany, MO, to Harley Eivins and Ruby (Billups) Eivins. He was the 7th of eight children. Pete was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and was baptized in 1962. Pete attended North Harrison High School and was in the class of 1972.
Pete was united in marriage to Cindy (McChesney) Cooper on May 28, 1982. To this union they each brought three children, making this an instant family of eight. Pete enjoyed spending time with his wife, Cindy, and the chaos they shared in raising six children together. For Pete, family time was the best time. He was a good listener and one of his joys was to teach his kids and grandchildren about life lessons that he liked to call “the school of hard knocks.”
Pete earned his AA in Water Environmental Technology from Kirkwood Community College. He used his degree to work in South Dakota, Bedford, IA, Ames, IA, & Hamilton, MO.
To know Pete was to understand that he would never be on time. He was an independent thinker and enjoyed challenging others on their values and ideals. He loved to argue and felt especially victorious if he thought he “got your goat.” He enjoyed time working on the road with the boys where he proudly earned the nickname, ‘Pops’, or working in the dirt, or putting up hay.
Pete was one of the best dog whispers around. He had a faithful companion of almost 15 years, Roy, who went everywhere with Pete. Sometimes the duo got each other in trouble. Pete trained Roy to sing “Happy Birthday” and the grandkids looked forward to hearing Roy sing on their special day.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Harley & Ruby Eivins, sister Rosalea Peterson, brother Garry Eivins, brother-in-law Don Robinson, sister-in-law Teresa McChesney, two nieces, & one nephew.
