Trenton, MO: Katherine Lucille Burgess, 96, of Trenton, Mo., passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.
Katherine was born on January 16, 1929 in Crocker, Mo. She was the daughter of Leslie and Oma Fern (Ferguson) Walters. She was one of six children. Four brothers: Don, Clinton, Wayne, and Harry. And one sister, Pauline. She attended school in Crocker. On June 19, 1947, she wed W.H. “Bill” Burgess. They shared five children together: H. Phil, Paula, Dwight, John, and Debbie. In 1980, Katherine and Bill moved to Trenton from Bethany, Mo. She continued to serve the Lord and showed her love for all of her family and friends. She is very well known throughout town as she made friends everywhere she went. Whether it was her time as a teacher’s aide at S.M. Riesler School or caring for the flowers at Easter’s. She loved to go for long walks, loved gardening, and perhaps most of all sled riding with the kids. One could usually find her in the garden or the kitchen as she loved to cook. Everyone loved her hot rolls. There are too many memories to share. Katherine will be deeply missed.
Katherine is survived by her children, H. Phil (Florence) Burgess of Chillicothe, Mo., Paula (Butch) Osman of Bethany, Mo., Dwight (Sandra) Burgess of Cameron, Mo., and John (Francie) Burgess of St. Joseph, Mo.; grandchildren, Travis (Julie) Law, Shannon McIntosh, Mathew (Rochelle) Law, Bridgette McIntosh-Jackson, Brandon (Natalie) Burgess, and Philip (Mandy) Burgess; great grandchildren, Mykaela Fox, Tyler Law, Jamie Law, Brodie Burgess, and Stephen Jackson; and great great grandchildren, Anastasia Mann and Steven Mann.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; daughter, Debbie; brothers, Don, Clinton, Wayne, and Harry Walters; and sister, Pauline Roberson.
A graveside service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025 at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Trenton, Mo.
