Helen L. Nail, 1926-2018
Bethany, MO: Helen Louise (McElvain) Nail, 92, Bethany, MO (formerly of Martinsville, MO) Passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018.
She was born on May 24, 1926 in Burlington, Iowa the daughter of Fred and Grace (Lamb) McElvain.
Helen graduated from Grant City High School in 1944. After high school, she worked in Kansas City for Deluxe Check Printers. She met Freddie Nail in Kansas City and they were married in Filmore, Missouri on May 3, 1947. They made their home on Fred’s family farm near Washington Center for 69 years before moving to Bethany in 2016. They shared 71 years of marriage until Freddie passed away on June 18 of this year.
Helen was a homemaker and she and Fred raised their four children on the farm until she returned to the work force in 1985 retiring in 1997. Later life found her following Fred to attend sports events for their kids, grandkids and then great grandkids. She loved sitting and watching the squirrels and birds and watching her Fox News.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and seven sisters.
Helen is survived by her children, daughter, Susie (Jim) Parker, sons, Fred (Connie) Nail, Bruce (Karen) Nail, and Rob (Robin) Nail; 9 grandchildren, Lori (Dewayne) Christensen, Matt (Laura) Parker, Julie (Jeff) Talkington, Brad (Angie) Nail, Brian (Jackie Burke) Nail, Chrissy (Chad) Wooderson, Dustin (Nikki) Nail, Ashley Nail (Quentin McConkey) and Chase Nail and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, December 8 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Martinsville, MO. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Saturday. Memorials may be made to Wesley Chapel Cemetery in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O.
