Bobby Landes

Bob Landes, 89, of St. Joseph, passed away on Father’s Day, June 21, 2015 at LaVerna Village in Savannah, Missouri.

Bob was born on July 17, 1925 in Ridgeway, Missouri to the late Elden Sr. and Edna (McCorkle) Landes.

He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II in the 17th Infantry Division. He spent his career farming and as a owner/operator over the road truck driver.

He married Leta Blessing on October 31, 1946 in Troy, Kansas. She passed away on August 17, 2007.

Bob was a member of Wyatt Park Christian Church, King City Senior Citizen Center and VFW. He was a member and Past Commander of the American Legion Post #132 in King City.   He was also a charter member of the National World War II Museum.

In addition to his parents and wife, Bob is preceded in death by three brothers, Loren, Ed and Wilbur Landes and sister Lila Hendren.

Surviving family includes three children, Brenda (Rick) Ebersold, Al (Gracie) Landes, both of St. Joseph, Missouri and Tony Landes, Stewartsville, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Craig (Jennifer) Ebersold, Natasha (Damion) Moore, Amanda (Jason) Adkins, Anna (Jeff) Wigh, Nathan (Christi) Landes, Amber Hoyle, Christina (George) Fought; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Eldon Landes Jr. and Glen Landes; sister Margaret Landes and special friend Ethel Thom.

Bob was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. We will cherish him in our hearts forever.

Co-Memorial Graveside Service and Inurnments for Bob and Letha (Blessing) Landes

10:00 a.m. Saturday at Miriam Cemetery in Bethany, Missouri.

A Reception will be held following the Inurnments Saturday at the Toot-Toot Family Restaurant & Lounge located at 2905 Miller Street in Bethany, Missouri from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Celebration Of Life to share memories and fellowship Saturday from

2:00-5:00 p.m. at the home of Al & Gracie Landes (4707 S. Lakewood Drive, St. Joseph, Missouri).

The Family has requested Memorials be made, in lieu of flowers, to The National World War II Museum in New Orleans (945 Magazine Street; New Orleans, LA; 70130) or online.
