Shoring up the dam: Bethany city crews used a blue tarp and tires to shore up the dam at the Old Lake which began eroding during last week’s epic rainstorm. The City Council met Monday morning to discuss more permanent measures to stabilize the lake dam which dates from the mid 1930s.
Bethany officials consulted with the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and DNR about steps that could be taken to stabilize the dam on the North Lake, where erosion during last week’s rainstorm caused widespread concern in the community.
