For some, snow was a frollic: The hillside east of the South Harrison Elementary School was a busy place on Saturday afternoon after about 10 inches of snow fell. Above, Steven Kern, Brandy Hobson, Kierstyn Kern and Matthew Kerns trek up the slope while enjoying an afternoon of sled riding. Sarah Fish, below, gives her daughter Stella a push while she slides down the hill.

City of Bethany and MoDOT road crews spent the weekend digging out from a major snowstorm that hit on Friday night and continued almost without letup until Saturday evening.About 10 inches of the white stuff were measured at some locations in Bethany. The snowfall was even heavier in central Missouri where about 17 inches fell, closing the University of Missouri campus and shutting down the Columbia Regional Airport when a passenger plane slipped off the runway.
