Bethany, MO: Members of the Bethany Rotary Club took a spin in South Harrison’s new electric powered school bus on Thursday afternoon, courtesy of driver Randy Carter. The bus’s motor was whisper quiet as it passed through the streets of Bethany. Superintendent Dennis Eastin said the school’s bus drivers received training in operating the bus from the manufacturer, the Lion Company of Canada. Eastin said the new bus won’t have air conditioning but has a small gas tank to provide heat in the winter. Rotarians, in the top picture, are from the left Cliff Addison, Mike Mattson, Bob Harryman, South Harrison student council representative Beau Rainey, driver Randy Carter, Jack McCall, Shane Jones, Dick Graner, Kathy Conger, Charlie Trump and Phil Conger. Carter, bottom left, sits at the instrument panel as the bus passes the elementary school. The gauge shows time remaining to recharge.
