Bethany, MO: The city of Bethany recently purchased this large building on the northeast corner of the Square for purposes of demolishing the structure which has fallen into disrepair. The building, located at 120 North 16th Street, was purchased for $5,000 from its most recent owner Olin Slaughter. The building was an old hotel which, according to the County Bicentennial History, was operated by Al Dale. It was a popular stop for travelers on the Jefferson Highway. The building later became the office of the Financial Realty Group but had been abandoned in recent years.--Republican-Clipper photo
