Princeton, Missouri: Dorothy (Scott) Claycomb, 101 years old, passed away Friday, June 26, 2026 at Pearl’s II Eden for Elders care center in Princeton, Missouri.
She was born on September 29, 1924, in Garden Grove, Iowa the daughter of Pearl Al and Margaret (Baker) Scott.
Dorothy attended school at Garden Grove, Iowa and Cainsville, Missouri. She married Archie Lee Claycomb on May 18, 1941 and they had two sons, Donald Morris “Donnie” and Charles Edward “Eddie”.
Dorothy enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed working on the family farm, participating in community clubs and being a 4-H leader. She was a member of the Parent-Teacher Association during the time her two sons were in school. She worked at the Axtell Hospital in Princeton as a nurse’s aid for a few years. She and Archie enjoyed going to auctions and buying antiques and collectibles. They also served several years on the Clay Township Board in Harrison County, Missouri.
Dorothy is survived by her two sons, Donald Morris of Linn, Missouri and Charles Edward and wife, Sharon of Princeton, Missouri; grandchildren, Jackie (Tyler) Wilkerson, Dana Hill, Donna (Craig) Sokol, Debbie (Brian) Hatten, Clint (Shari) Claycomb, Steven (Alexandra) Claycomb; step grandchildren, Scott (Jennifer) Blake and Sean (Josephine) Blake; great-grandchildren, Kayla Stover, Cade, Scout, and Arden Claycomb; step great-grandchildren, Ethan, Abigail, Emily and Keira Blake; and other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 72 years, Archie; daughter-in-law, Linda Claycomb; three sisters, Mary Ione (Morgan) Jones, Harriet Pauline (Gerald) Osborn, twin sister, Doris (Howard) Caldwell; and two brothers, Kenneth (Evelyn) Scott and Clayton (Rosemond) Scott.
A memorial visitation for both Dorothy and Archie will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 1 at the Mercer County Fair Building, 505 S. Steward St., Princeton, MO 64673.
