
Chillicothe, MO: Janet Collene Christian, 85, passed away peacefully after a short illness on July 6,2026 at Stonebridge Senior Living in Chillicothe, Mo. She was born in Bethany, Mo. to Charles “Bill” and Doris (Jerome) Huitt.
Janet grew up in Eagleville, Mo before moving to Arlington, Texas in her high school years. This is where she started her family of 4 daughters and worked as a bookkeeper as well as management in the real estate business.
In 1979, Janet met the love of her life, George Christian. They married on July 26, 1980. They remained in the DFW area for several years until they made the decision to move back to Eagleville in 1985. This is where Janet became co-owner with her husband George of Christian Body Repair and Christian Used Auto Sales until her retirement.
Janet was preceded in death by her birth mother, Doris Jerome Huitt; her father, Charles “Bill” Huitt; mother, Beatrice Huitt; sister, Linda Huitt Davis, brothers-in-law, Herbert Davis, Paul Huit and Larry Smith; daughters, Bethalee Fitzpatrick Smith and Donna Joan Fitzpatrick and great granddaughter, Jessamine Smith
Janet is survived by her loving husband, George Christian of Chillicothe, MO; sisters, Wilma “Jean” Huitt of Olathe KS, Phylis “Jane” Smith of Kearney, MO.; daughters, Sherry Lynn Roesler and Dana Sue Griffin both of Texas; step children, Vincent “Murph” and Lynn Marie Christian of New York; grandchildren, Michael Fitzpatrick, Shaun Smith, Jason Griffin, Eric Roesler, Melissa Briscoe, Nichole Spitzer, Brandon Fitzpatrick, Justin Smith, Jonathon Griffin, Misty Allison; 25 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter, Dubaisy Marie Smith all from Texas.
The family would like to give special thanks to Ron “Nino” and Shay Keifer and all others that helped with Janets Care.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 25 at Roberson Funeral Home, Eagleville, MO. Inurnment will follow in Masonic Cemetery, Eagleville, MO.
