Harrison County, MO: There have been some last minute changes as the filing deadline approaches for the August 4 primary election.
In the biggest development, incumbent State Representative Mazzie Christensen of Bethany announced Tuesday morning that she has dropped out of the race for re-election. She stated on Facebook that she is pregnant and wanted to devote herself to her family. Freddie Griffin Jr. of Hamilton has filed as a Republican candidate for Christensen’s position. Shelby Dreier of Gallatin has filed as a Libertarian. Griffin had been running to oppose Rusty Black for state Senate but dropped his bid in favor of the state House.
The filing deadline will be Tuesday afternoon for the August primary.
