Bethany, MO: Cynthia Diane Wooden of Bethany, Missouri, passed away on November 22, 2025 at the age of 70 years old. Cynthia was born to Cecil Eugene “Gene” and Eunice Maxine (Holley) Holcomb on January 10th of 1955 in Harrison County, Missouri. She preferred to be called Cyndi.
Her childhood was spent with family, many cousins, and friends, always finding an adventure. Eunice worked at the bank and Gene worked at Hy-Vee. Cyndi always said they always knew what she was up to, before she could get home.
She graduated from South Harrison School District in 1973 as the class salutatorian.
On July 1st of 1973, Cyndi married Steven Ray Bartlett of Bethany. On August 28th of 1978, they welcomed Jennifer Leigh into the world. She was Cyndi’s favorite (only) child.
In 1987, Cyndi would cross paths with James Dale Wooden. He was the love of her life. On May 31st of 2003, always doing things their way, they were married. From day one, Cyndi and Jen were warmly welcomed into the Wooden family.
The days were spent working at South Harrison as the assistant to the superintendent. The nights were filled with many activities. From bridge club, to sorority, to bowling, and volleyball. Many friends would gather routinely to play a few pitch/spade card games. She was an amazing cook, highly creative, and always looking to make things fun. Summertime brought molasses making at the Wooden Farm. Most weeks she would be found at her parents house at least every other day. She had a beautiful singing voice, handwriting, and artsy view.
Cyndi’s biggest JOY in her life was her grandkids. Peyton Hart was the first and only girl who she loved to talk about her accomplishments. Keegan Matthew was the first grandson and the one who kept her on her toes laughing. Then Maxton Sean came along to keep her young at heart and to play games with. She enjoyed seeing Skylar and Lily her step grandchildren when she could.
Cyndi was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Eunice Holcomb; beloved grandparents, Rufus and Goldie Holley and Cecil and Carol Holcomb; brother in law, Billy Wooden; best friend, Cathy Smith; and many friends and family.
Cyndi is survived by her husband, Jim Wooden of the home; favorite daughter, Jennifer Williams (Dustin) of Grain Valley MO; her grandchildren, Peyton Daniel of Sedalia, MO, Keegan Daniel of Sedalia, MO, Maxton Daniel of Grain Valley, MO, Skylar Brummer and Lily Ray of Vandalia, IL; her brother, Mark Holcomb of Kansas City, MO; mother in law, Carol Wooden Buis of Ridgeway, MO; sisters in law, Janet Wooden Blair of St. Joe, MO, Julie Thompson (Randy) of Wichita, KS, and Mary Marsh (Jim) of Ridgeway, MO; brother in law, Russell Wooden (Lori) of Martinsville, MO; lots of nieces and nephews; many special family members and friends who meant a lot to Cyndi; and many friends of Jen who she often thought of as her “kids” as well.
