
Columbia, MO: Eva Marie (Osborn) Thompson, age 100, passed away on March 3, 2026, at EverTrue Lenoir Woods, Columbia, MO.
She was born on a farm in Akron, MO, on October 27, 1925, to James and Sylvia (Claycomb) Osborn.
She attended elementary school in Akron and graduated from Cainsville High School. She went on to get her teaching certificate from Northwest MO Teachers College in Maryville, MO.
She married her high school sweetheart, George Ora Thompson, Jr., on May 22, 1945, in Mobile, AL, while he was stationed in Pensacola, FL, with the Naval Air Force. They returned to Cainsville where they lived most of their lives.
Eva was a devoted wife and loving mother, a teacher, a homemaker, an insurance agent and a U S Postmaster. She was very active in her Church, Cainsville United Methodist Church. She was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Eva loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed watching her grandkids participate in various sporting events over the years.
Eva moved to Columbia, MO, in 2011 to be near her daughters. She thoroughly enjoyed life at Lenoir – playing Bridge and Mahjong, enjoying concerts and lectures, going to movies and spending time with her friends.
Eva is survived by her four children, Betty (Betsy) Vicente, and husband Tim (Columbia, MO), Donna Buchert, and husband Pete (Columbia, MO), Geroge (Doug) Thompson (Lenexa, KS) and Don Thompson (Overland Park, KS). She is also survived by her grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and their families – Sean Vicente and wife Jennifer (Waukee, IA), Michael (Dallas, TX), Sydney (Chapel Hill, NC); Shannyn Vicente and fiancée Asher Kolieboi, Providence, RI), Meghan Buchert (Columbia, MO), Casey Buchert , Nayeli Eva (Columbia, MO), Brian Buchert and wife Danielle, Hannah (Tampa, FL), Blake Buchert and wife Makenzie (Royal Oak, MI), Kathryn Thompson Grieser and husband Adam, Emma, George (Overland Park, KS), Luke Thompson (Ft Collins, CO), Brandon Bressman (Overland Park, MO), Marissa Eaton , Remi, Camden, Colette (Overland Park, KS), Matt Thompson (Overland Park, KS) and Mike Thompson (Overland Park, KS).
Preceding her in death were her husband, George, her parents, James and Sylvia, her father and mother-in-law, Ora and Letha (Ader) Thompson, her brother, Jimmie J Osborn, sister -in-law, Jean Osborn, her sister-in law and husband, Treva (Thompson) and Kyle Stanton, and her daughters-in-law Patricia Thompson, Barbara Thompson and Brenda Thompson.
