Lost to history

Bethany, MO: The historical marker located on Highway 136, southwest of Bethany, was found damaged on Monday, January 12th. The landmark appears to have been the victim of a hit and run as the wooden posts that surround the marker are all intact except for one, seen as the debris in the lower corner. Police are looking into what could have happened to the sign that details the history of Bethany which was founded in 1845 at its original location nearby on Big Creek, just west of the sign. The condition of the marker had deteriorated over the years and was barely readable.
