Martinsville, MO: Rose Mary (Smith) Osmon was born at home in Martinsville, Mo., on June 18, 1934, the only child of Lee Andrew Smith and Stella (Young) Smith.
She grew up on the farm in Martinsville and graduated from Martinsville High School in 1953.
One of 16 graduates. After graduation she moved to nearby Bethany, Mo., where she worked at the local bank. There she met Edgar Lewis Osmon, and they were married in Martinsville, Mo., on November 13, 1954. To this union three daughters were born: Teresa Sue, Patricia Ann and Rebecca Marie.
Edgar joined the Army after their marriage and Rose began her life as a military wife. They moved to Fort Leonard Wood in 1962. Rose Mary took care of the home during Edgar’s many deployments including his two tours of Vietnam in 1967 and 1971.
Rose was a homemaker for most of her life. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, crafting, gardening and in her younger days fishing and camping. She was a very skilled seamstress and made her girls school clothes, prom dresses and wedding dresses. She loved feeding and watching hummingbirds and was a big sports fan especially of girls’ basketball. She enjoyed going to Quilt shows and working on new ideas for her many quilts. But the thing she loved most in life was her family. She loved watching her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews grow up.
Rose Mary passed away on August 27, 2025, at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother and sister, and her husband Edgar, who passed away in March 2024.They were married for 69 years.
She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Curran (LD), Patricia Firle (Terence), Becky Gann (Mike Campbell); her grandchildren, Rachel Stefaniw (Mike), Tara Kaminski (Pat McNabb), Alexis Curran, Trent Curran, Clint Gann (Blair), and Kyle Gann (Katilyn). Great grandchildren, Connor, Keira, Owen, Emmett, Sage, Stetson, Dawson, and Haven, and many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
