Members of the Cainsville Betterment committee point to the damaged wall on the east side of the building. The damage is due to frequent rains and inadequate drainage. MoDOT attempted to dig a ditch in front of the building to help with the water run-off, but hit concrete just a few inches down.

Cracks slash back and forth across the museum basement walls, allowing water to leak into the foundation. The repair costs have been estimated to be as high as $50,000.
Cainsville, MO: Rain is generally looked at as a good thing, until you reach the point where you start to get too much– a problem the Cainsville Community Betterment committee has recently found out. The tiny museum, sitting at the corner of East State Hwy N and Jefferson Street, has endured so much rain lately the east side of the Cainsville History Museum’s bricked wall has begun to deform and buckle, signaling the building is in need of repair soon. –Caleb Osmon
