Walmart contributes to veterans: Bethany Walmart Manager Ian Carlson, right, announced recently that Walmart has made a $2,500 community contribution to the Bethany V.F.W. Post 2176, represented here by Commander Mike O’Neal, left. Carlson, who recently became manager at the Bethany store, said the donation was appropriate because “we have a lot of veterans in our community and we owe them a lot.” O’Neal said the $2,500 gift was the largest that the organization has ever received. He said the money will be used to support services for military funerals and other local programs such as the recent farewell luncheon for the Bethany Army Reserve unit that was deployed to the Persian Gulf. Carlson said Walmart donated a total of $8,000 to local organizations during the past year. Carlson came to Bethany from the South St. Joseph Walmart store.
