Doloris DeHart, 1919 – 2018

Bethany, MO: West Des Moines, IA: Doloris DeHart, 99, West Des Moines, IA (formerly of Council Bluffs, IA and Bethany, MO) passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at a Wes Des Moines hospice house.

She was born Tuleta Doloris Wilson on February 17, 1919 near Martinsville, Missouri the daughter of Emory Lee and Geneva (Williams) Wilson. She attended a one room school house in Lone Star, followed by high school in Martinsville.

On December 12, 1936, she married Vincent A. DeHart of Allendale, Missouri. They were married 61 years until he preceded her in death at the age of 80 years on November 12, 1997. They lived on various farms near Albany, Tarkio, Fairfax and Westborough in northwest Missouri. Their farming days were interrupted by World War II and the Korean War when they lived in Kansas City and both worked at the Lake City arsenal ammunition plant nearby.

From 1954 to 1983, Doloris and her husband lived primarily in Council Bluffs, Iowa and she worked at the Pendleton Woolen Mills in Omaha, Nebraska. After retirement, they lived in Bethany until his death. In later years, Doloris went to live with her daughter, Jeannie Moeckle in West Des Moines, IA.

Doloris was also preceded in death by her parents; a 3 year old daughter, Carol Renee DeHart; brothers, Beldon and Eldon Wilson; sister, Ruby Brown and a half-brother, Larry Wilson.

She was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, auntie and friend and will be missed by all those to whom she meant so much. Most people that met her called her an angel. She was also a seamstress, wonderful cook, Queen noodle-maker, hard worker, Bible school teacher, a support to her husband with his many adventures, a Proverbs 31 virtuous woman and mentor to many.

Survivors include her three children, Ronald L. DeHart and longtime companion, Susan Parada, Southborough, Massachusetts; daughters, Karen Huff, Fairgrove, MO and Jeannie (Dan) Moeckl, West Des Moines, IA; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren and the mother of Ron’s children, Pat DeHart, Rogersville, TN.

Funeral Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 23 at First Assembly of God Church, Bethany, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in Lone Star Cemetery, Denver, MO. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the church.
